CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Hafsulan: Today the morning started cold, with a bit of North winds and clear skies. The sun was rising as we put on our overalls and went outside. Just a few minutes after we left the harbour... a blow! We came closer to inspect it and it was a lone minke whale! This one was just calmly swimming, cutting the surface with its snout every time it would come up for a breath. Then, we left this minke and went on the other side of the island of Engey, passing by Viðey and getting closer to Lundey. In between these 2 islands we spotted 2 blows together, right after the other: there were 2 humpback whales around! We came a bit closer and saw it was the same pair it was close to Reykjavik these last days! One of them was identified as Banana. One of them even breached twice!!! It was very exciting! After seeing them a bit more, while the big blow tall with the sun! We went back home very happy as the sky was blue and sun was shining.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 13:00
Report from Hafsulan: With sunny, clear skies, we set sail out into the bay. It was such a picturesque scene with the fresh snow on the mountains and islands around us. It was not too long until we spotted the blows of two humpback whales!! This instantly treated us to a double fluke dive which was amazing to witness. When they resurfaced, they were right next to our boat! We could see their entire bodies through the surface of the water, it was amazing. After multiple surface sequences, they then gave us another double fluke dive, right next to the boat! When they surfaced again we could even see their white pectoral fins as they swam through the waves ahead of us. The cold made it really easy to spot the blows as our pair resurfaced, as the colder it is the more prominent the cloud above our cetaceans heads get. After another incredible fluke dive, we continued onward to see who else was around. Although there were many birds about, we did not spot any other cetacean. Thus, we popped back to say hello and see a few more surface sequences, before heading back to port. On the way back we had a quick appearance from two harbor porpoises. After two surfaces, they swam onward and so we continued back home. We had another great afternoon on the bay.
