Tour at 17:00

The weather was incredible out on the bay this evening. The visibility was excellent and we enjoyed the scenery as well as the calm sea and evening sun. Our first sighting was a couple of shy harbour porpoises that came up to the surface a couple of times before disappearing. Soon after we spotted a very calm minke whale. It came up to the surface several times, always very slowly. In the end, on our way back to the harbour we were joined by a very active group of white beaked dolphins. They were a joy to watch and a perfect ending to this evening whale watching trip.

We still had very very good weather. This time we went far out into Faxaflói-bay to search for whales. But it was worth it! We first had a view nice and calm harbour porpoises. Later we found a minke whale and all in a sudden a group of white-beaked dolphins appeared just in the front of the boat. First we had to join them for a short time but suddenly they approached the boat and came very close. While we watched them a second minke whale came up to breath in the distance. This one surfaced several times around the boat. On the way back to the harbour we spotted again a nice and quite active group of harbour porpoises and a third minke whale. We came late back but very satisfied!

Report from Elding: The weather was beautiful and we had just perfect whale watching condition, the sea was as flat as a mirror! Therefor we were able to spot the cute harbour porpoises which are usually very difficult to spot. This group we saw today was very special and behaved in a very interessting way. They were obviously feeding together fish. One of the usually very shy porpoises actually jumped out of the water with the whole body and they didn´t pay any attention to the boat. That showed us that they were really busy with feeding.

Report from Hafsúla: A similar trip as the one on Elding, beautiful and flat sea and a nice group of (not shy) harbour porpoises! :-)
