CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: With the sun casting a pink glow over the skyline, we bundled up and set sail. Just as we were pulling out of the harbor, we spotted the blow of one humpback whale! This individual was showing just how quick humpbacks can be when they feed. It was surfacing all around the boat, keeping us on our toes. After multiple surfaces, we decided to see if anyone else was around. As we sailed around, we admired the bird life, as some Northern gannets were soaring around us. After a little sail, we then spotted two blows and went to investigate! We had found the pair of humpbacks that have been wintering nearby, Banana and Radar! They treated us to multiple double fluke dives, showing off their unique fluke prints. They then decided to check us out, as they surfaced right next to us! It was amazing to see their bodies through the water and hear them as they surfaced for a breath. After a wonderful encounter, we waved them goodbye and went to visit the first solitary humpback again. This individual was still feeding and started to do a bit of lunge-feeding. It was impressive to see them engulf a mouthful of fish. After multiple surface sequences, this humpback was off and it was time to head back to port. With the sun shining and three humpback whales, we had a great afternoon!
