CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report rom Eldey: The weather today had largely improved, in comparison to yesterday, although we still had a cloudy and cold morning. As we ventured out of the harbour, many of our passengers equipped themselves with our overall suits, so that they could feel warmer and cozier throughout the tour. At sea, we passed by various seabird species, from the Atlantic puffin to black-headed gulls and arctic terns. Eventually, we spotted some blows on the horizon. As we approached them, a small group of (more or less) three white-beaked dolphins rapidly approached our ship, before mysteriously disappearing again. However, we soon arrived at the area of the blows, where found three humpback whales. These were clearly feeding, performing short surfacing sequences, before going for deep dives (where they showed us their tails), while birds (gannets and kittiwakes) flew above them, diving every now and then, to catch fish left behind by the whales. At one point, we saw one of the whales releasing a short burst of bubbles, likely a behaviour associated to feeding. Eventually, we left these three whales and moved on, but soon found another pair of humpback whales. These were diving and resurfacing in slightly different locations, a behaviour often called "milling". By the time we finished our tour, we headed back to Reykjavík, happy with the fact we saw five (maybe more) whales, dolphins and hundreds of birds.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 11:00
Report from Hafsulan: There were lots of whales and birds in the bay today, so we had almost non-stop sightings on our tour. We started with some white-beaked dolphins, but this group of 6 were not really in the whale-watching mood. On we went, and soon we spotted the blow of a humpback whale! After a few fluke dives, we let this individual continue its travel and we set off to another humpback whale. This individual was displaying the same behaviour as the first, and we were with it until a pod of 5 more white-beaked dolphins appeared. This group was a lot more social and we enjoyed some really close encounters with the curious individuals. Our trip ended with a sighting of Davy Jones II - one of my favourite humpback whales in Faxafloi. Having seen so many whales and birds, we then started heading to Reykjavik.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey - Today's tour began under cloudy skies with calm seas, providing peaceful conditions as we headed out into the bay. Our first sighting was a solitary humpback whale feeding. It spent time foraging beneath the surface and occasionally created bubble nets, giving us a fascinating glimpse into one of the species' remarkable feeding techniques. We then continued to another feeding area, where we encountered two more humpback whales. Although they were feeding separately, they remained in the same general area, constantly on the move as they searched for food. One of these whales was accompanied by two white-beaked dolphins, which stayed close by as it travelled and fed Just as we were preparing to head back to the harbour, two enormous splashes caught our attention in the distance. Two more humpback whales were breaching repeatedly, so we changed course to investigate. As we drew closer, the breaches continued, and we soon discovered one of the whales was the well-known humpback Davy Jones II. Davy Jones II turned out to be incredibly curious and playful, approaching the boat to check us out. The whale delighted everyone on board by repeatedly pec-slapping and rolling at the surface all around us, giving us an unforgettable finale to an already fantastic tour. It was a spectacular end to a day filled with wonderful humpback encounters.
