Status: RUNNING

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik on this rainy day. There is little wind but there will be some movement on the boat due to wind the last days and swells out on Faxabay.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey:We sailed out on a slightly chilly afternoon, the wind had dropped slightly and so the sea was a lot calmer than this morning giving us a more pleasant sail out. It took a long time to search until we located our first specie of the tour. We were alerted to the presence of a pod of white-beaked dolphins in the distance and so headed towards them. These animals were slightly elusive but after a hard search these animals were re-spotted and we were able to watch them for sometime. These dolphins came wonderfully close at times coming up only 10 meters away. We watched their beautiful black and white bodies swimming under the waters surface just in front of us! Often changing direction and speed ensuring everyone had a good look at them. It was a lovely end to the tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We had a surprisingly fine morning on the bay today ! There was a little bit of rain pouring down in the harbour before we left, but it quickly stopped, and the further away we were, the more the clouds were clearing. We even ended up having so sunlight reaching above and through the clouds, giving us the opportunity to have some beautiful landscape snapshots. As a nice addition, since the tour was not extremely busy there was plenty of space for everybody, so the sailing was comfortable although seriously chilly. The only missing things were unfortunately the whales. We spent three hours watching alertly around the boats, but despite our best efforts no cetaceans were to be spotted. It's always a shame since it's the main purpose of the tour, but we gave complimentary tickets, hoping that our passengers will have the opportunity to come back soon. Hopefully an easy sailing, nice lights on the land and some new whale knowledge still made up for a worthy trip out there.
