CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: The sun was shining and the waves were gentle in Faxaflói bay this morning! As we were sailing out into this calm sea and while we were admiring the snow capped mountains, a pod of white-beaked dolphins paid us a short visit. After that, we got to observe a travelling minke whale from afar, and then - what's that? - we spotted a breaching humpback whale in the distance! With their breaching and lob-tailing, this whale seemed to be calling their peers for lunch. Soon several whales popped all around us, some of them lunge-feeding. After admiring some more the scene of breaching and feeding whales, we started to get going back to the harbor. On our way, we had another strike of luck: a calm pod of harbor porpoises keeping close to the surface.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: Another successful whale-watching tour. The weather was as good as the morning, with just a bit higher swell that made the ship rock a bit more. We arrived in the same area as the one where we found the minke whales and humpback whales feeding in the morning, where they now seemed to be relaxing after so much activity. Nevertheless we still got to see some jumps from some of them! But the amazing part of the tour came some time later. We were able to drift close to a pair that was relaxing close to the surface; as we got close, the humpbacks started to roll underwater, so we were able to admire them in their entirety. Afterwards one of them spy-hopped very close to our ship, showing and intense curiosity, and followed us for a bit. We then slowly made our way back to the harbor, but we didn't arrive before we got to get our last sighting of the day: a minke whale, right by Engey island.
