Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00, 14:00 and 16:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised.

Report from Eldey: The morning seemed calm with the reminders of the rising sun, shining through the white clouds. The sea was calm as was the wind, so good conditions to see some cetaceans. After sailing out into the bay for some time we encountered our first cetaceans, a pod of 6 to 10 harbour porpoises. These elusive creatures did however not stay long with us so we sailed on to find our first whale, a minke whale. This one was quite elusive and sneaky like the porpoise but luckily there were more minkes around in the area, over 10 of them, showing themselves and even a few lunge feeding seen by a few splashes in the distance. One minke did  even came close to us! Another pod of about 5 harbour porpoises went to greet us before we had to head back toward the harbour.

Report from Eldey:It is the end of the summer in Iceland but actually today is one of the warmest days we´ve had for a while. There was only a small breeze, with some really light swell, as we started our sail out of the city. We got time to enjoy the landscape around as we sailed into the bay. It took some time before we had our first encounter which was a pod of 4 harbour porpoises. These quick ninjas of the sea appeared briefly right in front of the boat and then vanished. We headed onward and noticed a few feeding birds and then spotted some minke whales! These were equally elusive but as we were scanning the horizon we spotted some splashes a bit further out! We found a pod of 4 white beaked dolphins! They were quite active and swimming on both sides of the boat. As we headed on after a while they jumped around us and showed off their acrobatic skills. We were a bit pressed for time and started heading to harbour. On our way we saw a blow as we got closer to land. ´Twas a humpback whale we found! A full house of cetacean poker. This whale was taking longer than average dives but we were lucky enough to see a few fluke dives before we headed home.
