Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress appropriately as it is always colder on sea than on land.

In the event of unfavourable weather or unstable sea conditions, we sometimes have to cancel our tours for safety reasons. But that doesn't mean you can't make the most of your day in the city! There are numerous things to do in Reykjavík on a rainy day and many of our partners even offer tours that are less weather dependent than ours.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The sea conditions were good this afternoon with a little bit of swell but not enough to make our vessel very rocky. The weather was not the best with a lot of rain and some wind making the visibility difficult. We went to the area where humpbacks have been seen yesterday but we could not find them. We circled the area looking everywhere and patiently exploring the bay. Our patience was rewarded with a nice pod of 8 white-beaked dolphins coming toward us and staying with us for a while on our side or in front of us. At some point one of the younglings started doing jumps falling in splashes. We enjoyed a lot seeing dolphins coming close enough from the boat to see them through the water. We left when our engineer saw a blow not very far. We went there and could meet with Neila, a humpback whale seen many times this summer. We saw it going for a few shallow dives and a couple of fluke dives in the end. We were out of time so we took the direction of the harbour, crossing a minke whale in our way.
