Status: RUNNING

We sail out tonight looking for Northern Lights. We are expecting high activity tonight or 5 out of 9 and semi clouded skies. Please don't hesitate to contact our ticket office for bookings and further information, +354 519 5000 or elding@elding.is.

Sightings: The clouds were rolling in as the tour was about to begin, so we were getting a little bit worried that they may hinder the view of the aurora. We heard that passengers walking along the seafront saw them very well from about 7pm so that is always a good sign that they will be out still later on in the evening. We sailed out and within minutes the winds picked up, strong winds that were not forecasted in the area, but this is Iceland and the weather changes quickly. We picked up a few passengers from the island of Viðey (they were first doing the imagine peace tower tour) and then gained shelter from the winds and waited. The northern lights soon showed up, a hint of green amongst the clouds. This got stronger and stronger and trying their best to shine through the clouds. The intensity of the lights came and went throughout the tour but as we headed home they were seen very well but the bitterly cold winds made it hard to stay outside too long so our passengers made use of the free overalls, hot drinks and warm saloon. Bbbbrrrrrrrrrr.
