NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00
Report from Eldey: we were delighted to have very calm seas and very clear skies. A Kp index of 4 gave us hope for a great shows of northern lights, despite the fact that the moon was brightening up the sky a lot, making it harder to spot any light. Therefore we sailed on our usual route around the islands of Kollafjordur, in right in front of Reykjavik. We recounted the stories of Ursa Major and the Bootes, learning how to identify their constellations and learning about their mythology, and then learned about what causes the northern lights. These appeared only at the very end of the tour (at around 22:30-23), somewhat faint but still very visible in their green color right over Akranes and the mountain Akrafjall. This concluded our chill tour with success.
