Viðey ferry is back in operation!

Mon, 01/20/2020 - 13:00

The Viðey ferry is finally up and running again this weekend after the pier on the island broke off in a heavy storm in December. Repairs have been made and the island is ready to receive visitors once again!

Viðey island is a charming piece of land just off Reykjavík that is quite small in size, only 1.7 square kilometres with the highest point being 32 metres above sea level. There are ample hiking paths, beaches and artwork on the island and it is rich with birdlife and wild plants.

You can reach the island by ferry only. This winter, the ferry departs from Skarfabakki pier every Saturday and Sunday at 13:15, 14:15 and 15:15. Price is 1.600 ISK per adult, 50% off for children 7-15, and no charge for 0-6 years old. Reykjavík City Card holders get free admission.
