Tour at 17:00

Report from Elding II: The weather was still just perfect for a whale watching tour. After stopping at Akurey the puffin Island we decided to go very far out as we heard from fishing vessels that there were whales in that area. After about 20 minutes sailing we heard very good news from another boat not very far away from us, minke whales everywhere! And that was true! There were sooo many Minke whales all around us actively feeding, rolling in the surface, leaping out of the water and coming very close to us! WOW! That was truly an amazing tour.

Report from Elding: The sun was out and the sea nice and calm. We started at Akurey and saw many Puffins but the whales were not as forthcoming. We only saw one Minke Whale on this tour and only a couple of times but pretty close. Once the whale arched its back and went for a deep dive it wasn't seen again for a long time and once spotted again it was very far away, again going for a deep dive. Very difficult tour. Lets hope things will change for the 1700.

Report from Hafsúlan: After the succesful morning tour we were very optimistic to see whales again. We went to the same area where we spotted the whales on the morning tour but unfortunately on this tour we were not so lucky. We went further out and spotted two or three times a minke whale far in the distance. But as we went closer we did not see it again. Luckily we spot some harbour porpoises close to the boat but also they disappeared were fast and not all passengers were able to see them. Nature is changing so fast and this was shown on this tour very clear. It was great that we had such a nice sunshine on our tour and the passangers enjoyed the voyage. However there were no whales to see. Therefore we visited the Puffin island at the end of our tour and gave all passengers complimentary tickets. We would be happy to welcome them on bord again.

Tour at 10:00

Report from Elding: we had a slightly windy start to our first 10.00 o'clock tour of the year (today a tour at 14.00 also started and soon we'll have a 20.30 tour as well, the high season has come, yay!) and it wasn't too long before we spotted a nice small pod (5-10) of Harbour Porpoises which welcomed us with dolphin-style jumps of joy! This species also visited us a few more times during the tour, one reason for which being that there was a lot of fish around. And around the same location we spotted our first Minke Whale. This was a fairly successful trip Minke-wise, though very often they were some distance away, but they somehow seem to retain their charm regardless of distance. All in all it was 3-4 Minke Whales we saw and our passengers seemed most pleased with the morning as we headed home.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was perfect sunshine and almost no wind when we left the Reykjavík old harbour. We started our day under perfect conditions and it did not take long until we spotted the first blow of a whale. We went closer to the area where we saw this blow and this was really a good decision. We saw several minke whales. They came really close to the boat and it was great to see that they did not feel disturbed at all. We saw around 5 minke whales. Furthermore we spotted also several times harbour porpoises. Also the harbour porpoises were close to the boat. It was an amazing tour and the people enjoyed it a lot. On our way back we also stopped at the Puffin island and saw many puffins both on the island and also on the water.
