Tour at 17:00

The wind had picket up a lot when we sailed out from Reykjavík again. It took us a long time to find the whales this time and they were also very difficult to get close to. We saw many blows from 3-4 minke whales but it was almost impossible to get close to them. Suddenly one minke whale surfaced 30 meters from our boat but only once and only few of our passengers could see it. We hope that all our passengers cold see at least one or two minke whales on this tour. We tried our best to find the whales and get as close as possible but the weather was getting worse so it was not easy. Quite a rough tour.

Tour at 14:00

The first species spotted on this tour was the Harbour Porpoises. There were probably 5 of them together, swimming around the boat for a while. After a nice porpoise show we sailed further out hoping to find bigger species like the minke whale. We had to be very patient this time because we had to look for quite a long time until we spotted one Minke Whale. We spotted several other minke whales, most of them stayed far away but others came a bit closer. On the way back to the harbour we spotted the lovely harbour porpoises again. The last stop on this tour was the Puffin Island. We literally just saw 1 puffin in the island, but it was a very special one ;)

Tour at 13:00

Soon after we left the harbour, very close to land we spotted our first minke whale. The whale was diving for a long time so we went further out and found another one. And the same story there, diving for a long time and only surfacing once or twice so again we sailed further out. Suddenly a minke whale came up very close to our boat, 40 meters and this whale was fantastic. One of our researchers recognised the whale and it has the name Curly. We stayed with the whale for 30 minutes and it came very close to our boat many times 10-15 meters so all our nice passengers could have a look at the animal. On our way back we visited the puffins at Akurey but not many puffins at home. Very successful tour.

Tour at 10:00

We started by visiting the Puffin Island where we saw few cute puffins. Then we had to sail for a while until we spotted the first Minke Whale. This minke didn't stay for a long time but instead we found 2 other minke whales. We saw couple of minkes on the tour, some of them came closer, and other was further away. Gannets were diving all around us, probably more then 60 of them which was Amazing. They are truly spectacular birds. On the way back to the harbour we spotted 2 more minke whales and one of them surfaced around the boat, really close, coming up with the head first allowing everyone on the boat to take good photos. Great end of a very nice tour.

Tour at 09:00 The weather was very nice, no wind and the sun was shining. In the beginning of the tour we found a good area with lots of minke whales, 5-7 animals. But they were only surfacing once or twice. Then suddenly they all disappeared. We sailed further out and found a shy pod of harbour porpoises and a nice minke whale. We followed the whale for some time and enjoyed it a lot. Nice tour.
