Tour at 20:30

Again we visited Akurey before going out whale watching. There were some puffins on and around the island so we could take a good look at the birds. After a nice time with the puffins, the search for the whales began. We had to search a big area to find the whales, but in the end it paid off. We found an area with lot of feeding birds, and yes A LOT OF MINKE WHALES! They were all around us actively feeding. This was just amazing and we lost the number of the animals in the area. Maybe we saw 10 minke whales, maybe 20! We stayed with them for some time and we could have a very good look at them before heading back to the harbour. Just amazing tour!

Birds seen on tour: Fulmars, kittiwakes, puffins, artic scua, razorbills, guillemots, black back gulls

Tour at 17:00 We sailed out in a sunny weather and headed to Akurey to see the puffins. There were some puffins at home this afternoon among other bird species. Then it was time for the whales. We sailed out on Faxaflói bay for a long time without finding our friends, the whales. We searched a big area but no luck this afternoon so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets.

Tour at 13:00

The wind was picking up a bit when we headed out again this afternoon. It took us only 15 minutes to spot the first and only minke whale. It suddenly surfaced in front of the boat. We followed the whale for some time and it was absolutely fantastic, surfacing many times very close to the boat, one time 5 meters, we nearly could touch it. After spending some time around the whale we left it in peace because we didn't want to disturbed the whale more than necessary, ( two boats in the area) we like to have it "whale friendly whale watching" And of coarse we like to find maybe another species. But no luck further out, so we ended the tour at the puffin island Akurey with lots of puffins.

Tour at 09:00

In a great weather we headed out from Reykjavík this morning. Our first stop was close to the puffin island Akurey, and lots of puffins at home. Out in the bay we soon found a good area with some harbour porpoises and few minke whales. And all the whales were fantastic, surfacing very close to the boat, 10-15 meters again and aging so all our happy passengers could have a very good look at them.

Birds seen on tour: Puffins, guillemots, gannets, fulmars, kittiwakes, arctic terns and arctic skuas.
