  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00
  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING 09:00

Report from Eldey: We left the marina in the morning. Even though it was windy, the weather had improved significantly from the previous evening: conditions were fair, it didn't rain, and it wasn't too cold, the temperature being around 7 Celsius. Fifteen minutes into the sail we found Frodo, the humpback whale that has been with us almost every day for some time now, and it was amazing! Frodo was very active today, it did several rolls that left everybody impressed, and as we were starting our way back to port, it breached as if saying good bye!! Everyone saw it and enjoyed and had a great time.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Today our Icelandic skies were covered in clouds and the Icelandic wind wasn't giving in. But still, the whales were waiting for us, so we went out in search of them! About 20 minutes into our windy tour we were able to spot a blow near Videy island. We went there to investigate and there it was, a humpback whale! It was slowly coming into the harbour and after the first fluke dive we knew who it was, it was Frodo! We stayed with this individual for a while and after a very close encounter, we left in search of more wildlife. All we saw was a big flock of birds which was a good sign but nothing came up. We searched around the islands of Reykjavík but nothing was showing up apart from some cool eider ducks. On the way back we found Frodo still doing amazing fluke dives so we decided to stay a bit longer with her. It did a peduncle throw, which created lots of splash and smiles on our passenger's faces. She then came super close to us while doing a fluke dive and off we went back to the harbour, to end this pretty tour.
