It was a beautiful evening with good whale watching conditions, calm sea and good visibility. We started out in Akurey, but there were not many puffins in the island this evening. Then we headed further out, searched for a long time and covered a large area of the bay, but unfortunately we didn't see any whales. On two occasions the crew spotted a minke whale, but both of them deep-dived and disappeared before the passengers were able to spot them. In spite of the lack of whales it was a beautiful evening out on the bay with a great sunset. Out unfortunate passengers got a complimentary ticket and can come with us on another tour for free.

The weather was still excellent, calm sea and the sun was shining. The whales were quite far out to day and it took us some time to find them again. The first Minke whale was diving for a long time and surfacing only once each time. The second Minke whale was in a better whale watching mood. It came very close to the boat and one time the whale was lying in the surface for a few seconds. Very nice whaleJ. The third Minke whale surfaced three times in a row before going for a deep dive and disappearing. We ended the tour by visiting the Puffin island Lundey.

We started our tour by going to Akurey Island to look at the puffins. There were not many birds there but we saw some Arctic Skuas chasing other birds there like the Kittiwakes. On our way out we spotted one Minke Whale and shortly after we saw one Harbour Porpoise. After a while we spotted another minke whale and soon we realized there were at least 4 animals close to our boat. Sometimes we could see 3 of them together coming up to the surface. We also found a big flock of feeding birds and in this area there was one minke whale using the bubble net feeding technique. We even could see it rolling underwater showing the white belly. The passengers left the boat with a big smile and a nice sun tan.

The Puffin island was our first stop and again not many Puffins to see. Then the bay, searching for whales. First we spotted absolutely perfect group of Harbour porpoises. They were amazing. Coming up very close to the boat and surfacing many times. Then at least 4-5 Minke whales some of them came quite close but most of them where surfacing 100-200 meters away. Sometimes it is like that. It is always the whale’s choice how close we can get to them. But altogether very nice tour in very nice weather.

The weather was the best whale watching weather you could ask for. Flat calm sea, clear blue sky and the sun was on full power. We was going to start the tour at Akurey to see the Puffins but one of the passengers spotted some White-beaked Dolphins which were surfacing fast and causing many splashes. So that’s where we headed. The dolphins were really interactive, swimming under the boat or surfacing near but after a while they lost interest so we let them be and went to see the Puffins. There weren´t that many puffins around which means they must be out at sea or in their borrows. It then took us about 50 minutes to get out where the Minke Whales were. There was two individuals we watched one of them getting really close to the boat (less than 30 meters) and surfacing many times. So many species of birds today too, Puffins, Arctic Skuas, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gulls, Arctic Terns, Guillemots, Gannets and Manx Shearwaters. Amazing tour.

In perfect weather 16°C, no wind and sunshine, we sailed straight out to Faxaflói searching for whales. The first Minke whale was difficult to approach. We stayed with this whale for some time following it, and finally it came close to us. Then we went further out and spotted splashes from White-beaked dolphins. It was a big group, very nice and playful. We enjoyed them a lot. Suddenly a Minke whale surfaced in front of the boat. So there were two species in one area. Not bad! We ended the tour by visiting the Puffins at Akurey but there were not many puffins around.
