CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Eldey: This morning we sailed out into a gloomy bay, looking at a big wall of fog. This never stopped us and wont stop us now so we sailed out eager to see what we would encounter. It was a very atmospheric tour and we quickly found 3 pods of 5-7 white beaked dolphins! One pod was quite curious and stayed jumping close to us! Its always tricky to say if it was three pods or one big one. We also saw 3 minke whales, one of which was quite a good one that was also lunge-feeding! We saw it a few times before spotting a fluke in the distance! It was Davy Jones 2, one of our favourite humpback whales! With happy faces all around we started our return journey.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: Our afternoon started quite foggy as we were leaving the harbor, with light rain, but the sea was very calm. Just after 10 minutes of sailing, we spotted a small pod of 5-6 harbor porpoises swimming swiftly. We said goodbye to them and continued sailing further into the bay. After 25 minutes, we spotted our first minke whale! We watched it for a few minutes before continuing our trip. We then heard of a humpback whale in the area, so we went to see it as well! The humpback was fluking gently, showing its tail and even rolled so we could see the pectoral fins completely out of the water! It was an incredible sight. Soon after, we saw two more minke whales in the same area. At one point, the humpback whale and the minkes were super close to our bow at the same time. Eventually, we needed to start heading back to Reykjavik, and we said goodbye with very happy smiles.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00
Report from Eldey: We set off for the final tour of the day in probably the least amount of rain so far which was nice. On our way out we got to see our first of 4 cetaceans. We saw 3 harbour porpoises coming very fast towards us before they disappeared. Then as we continued on we managed to spot many many minke whales in the very calm waters. In total we probably we saw 10-12 minke whales. We spent a lot of time with one in particular that we got to see surface many times including coming very close a few times. Then just as we were approaching the islands off the coast on our way home we saw another minke lunge feeding. After seeing the minkes on our way out we also got to see a humpback whale! Once again today it was Davy Jones II! They surfaced lots and lots but never did a full fluke dive. For a bit it seemed like they were logging before it then rolled and showed the pectoral fins. Then just after we left Davy we came across a large pod of 10-12 white beaked dolphins. They were having a great time, jumping and bow riding lots. So this was really exciting. Then we arrived back to the harbour a little late with a great view of the sunset after an incredible evening.
