Tour at 20:30

We started this evening's tour with a visit by Akurey the puffin colonies. Many of the Puffins were sitting at the surface around the island while others were flying above the island. The weather was great, so peaceful and quiet and the sunset was amazing. Out on the bay we soon spotted two Minke Whales. They were not easy to follow but we were able to see them surface several times and with each deep dive the spent more and more time under water so we therefor headed further out to see if we could find any other whales. Unfortunately the luck was not with us out there and we didn't spot any whales there and on the way back we spotted another Minke Whale around the same area as we had seen the first ones but this was pretty difficult one as well and we were only able to see it surfacing 4-5 times before we ran out of time and had to start heading back.

This tour was both bad and good. Good because we got to see three species; Minke Whales, White-beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises but bad because other than the Harbour Porpoises which were really interactive and everywhere the rest were very elusive and difficult to follow. Minke Whales in particular surfaced only a couple of times then went for a deep dive and not found again. The Puffins were great though and there were many at Akurey, Puffin Island.

The tour this afternoon was very successful. On our way to the puffin island we spotted the first minke whale, very close to land. Surfacing many times and very close so we could see it clearly. At the puffin island we spotted many puffins. Then we sailed further out and left the nice minke in peace. There we had a good time, lots of minke whales, shy group of white-beaked dolphins and in the end of the tour big group of harbour porpoises, fast swimming. We turned of the engine and just enjoyed the wild nature;)

A fantastic tour this morning. Flat calm sea, blue skies and great whale sightings. We started at Akurey Puffin Island and there were thousands flying around and sitting on the waters surface around. Then we headed offshore and it wasn't long before we were surrounded by Minke Whales. They were everywhere. There must have been so much food around for them because they were surfacing so close to the boat and on one occasion just 1 meter from us. I was speechless, Uh Uh Uh there!!. Great tour.
