CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Our morning started with amazing sea conditions and sunny skies as we sailed to Faxafloi. We searched for about 45 minutes enjoying the amazing landscape and scanning the bay for any cetacean species. Our first sighting of the day was spotted by a passenger- a minke whale! We watched the whale return to the surface and then our eyes noticed another dorsal fin around! And then... another one! We were surrounded by whales and they seemed to be feeding since our captain told us that our fish finder was recording plenty of fish under the boat! Eventually we needed to continue our journey, but it didn't take long before we were able to see a blow in the distance! As we got close it was very clear, it was our beloved Davy Jones- a famous humpback whale in our waters! It seemed to be resting moving very gently close to the surface. After a little while it looked like it was time to wake up! the whale started moving more, facing our boat and coming really close! It stopped for a few moments looking at us before a beautiful fluke dive passing underneath our boat! What an amazing sighting! As our time was coming to an end we set sail to the harbour with smiles on our faces.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Today again, as we sailed out in Faxaflói bay, we quickly encountered our humpback friend, Davy Jones II, who was once again resting for long minutes next to us, slowly breathing and diving several times very close to us, passing under our boat, slowly and gracefully. Heading out further to find new sightings, we managed to spot over 15 harbor porpoises, scattered all around us during long minutes. This lead us to encounter a new area of activity, where 4 minke whales were seen, some passing by very close to us for all to photograph. As we headed back, we re encountered our humpback friend, who fluke dived a couple of times for us to finish our amazing tour on this sunny afternoon.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out into incredibly calm seas and the sun warming our faces this evening. It did not take too long to see 3 harbour porpoises appear right in front of us, even though they vanished rather quickly. Luckily, a short search later, a minke whale surfaced multiple times in front of us. Seconds after, we spotted a big blow in the distance as well. This was the clear sign of a humpback whale! Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Dave Jones II once again. Our all time favourite whale treated us to quite a show again as he approached our boat and swam alongside and under us for the longest time. We could see it in it's entirety through the water surface and to top it all off he even did some bubble net feeding just a few meters shy of our boat! Eventually though, we had to say goodbye to this individual and we had to sail back home. But not before we spotted a second minke whale to wrap up the evening. Amazed by today's encounters, we set course for port with the sun setting behind us.
