Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for our Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: A beautiful sunshine and calm seas greeted us into Faxafloi today. In an area with several flocks of seabirds, we encountered a minke whale. This individual only surfaced twice before disappearing into the deep, and when she hadn't come up after a few minutes we continued. Not long after, the blow of a humpback whale appeared above the water! The humpback whale was travelling slowly, staying close to the surface but not coming above the water too often. He was on his way to a large flock of birds, under which a pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins were busy feeding. To our surprise, another humpback whale surfaced in the middle of the dolphins, and suddenly we were surrounded by whales and dolphins! The dolphins accompanied one of the humpback whales, while the other one travelled off into the sun glare. We were lucky enough to get some very close looks of the whales and dolphins as they swam towards our bow. We couldn't have wished for a nicer tour, with sunshine, lots of marine mammals, and a beautiful backdrop of the volcano!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 1300
Report from Eldey: We left the harbor with sun shinning, which was a nice addition to the Icelandic winter weather. Soon enough we spotted a pod of white-beaked dolphins. Even though there were some pairs of mothers with babies the dolphins were social and playful, even jumping a couple of times. We sailed further into the bay and spotted another pod of dolphins, which followed us on our bow for a moment. After that it was time to head back to Reykjavik.
