Tour at 14.00

Again we sailed out in sunny weather and started this tour by sailing straight out to Faxaflói. After sailing for about 45 minutes we spotted the first Minke Whale but since there were many boats in the area we decided to go a little further. This paid off because there we spotted two Minke Whales, coming up often at the same time and really close to the boat. They were often coming up at different places around the boat so we had our hands full keeping up with them and looking at them. An excellent sighting! After this we decided to sail on and try our luck elsewhere but unfortunately found nothing else. On the way back to the harbour we stopped by the Puffin Island Lundey where we could see a few puffins. A really nice tour!

Tour at 13.00

This tour we started out by visiting Lundey, there were rather many puffins on this island and also quite many Black-Guillemots and Kittiwakes. We then headed out to Faxaflói. First we sailed through the area where the Baskin Shark had been but there was no luck so we headed further out. During the tour we spotted quite many Minke Whales some of them were really nice and came often up to the surface and close to the boat. Others were a bit more difficult and stayed away from us, but all in all a great tour.

Tour at 10.00

We started this tour in brilliant sunny weather and sailed straight to Lundey, the Puffin Island, where there were quite many puffins this morning, sitting on the island and the sea. Then we sailed out to Faxaflói but a lot sooner than we expected we found a Basking Shark! It came really close to the boat and we could see it extremely well under the surface, swimming with the mouth open. Then we sailed further and suddenly the blue skies disappeared and we were surrounded by thick fog. In this weird weather we sailed on and luckily found some bird life where we also spotted two beautiful Minke Whales, surface feeding and showing their belly, rolling in the surface. We stayed with them for a long time until we had to sail back to the harbour where the sun was coming out again. A wonderful tour!

Tour at 9.00

The weather was so great this morning, sun was shining and the sea was like a mirror it was so calm. We started out by visiting Akurey to see the Puffins. Unfortunately there were not many Puffins there. We spotted 4 of them on the island itself and some of them were flying around the island. We then headed out. Soon we spotted a pod of Harbour Porpoises they were very active and while we were looking at them we spotted the first Minke Whale, during the tour we spotted several of them and also some White-beaked Dolphins, then on the way back we spotted a Baskin Shark. It came several times very close to the boat so we could wee the whole body through the surface and how it had the mouth wide open. Very nice tour.
