Tour at 13:00

The weather was just like this morning, just gorgeous. It took us a little while to find the whales again but suddenly we saw some splashes which were from a pod of White-beaked Dolphins. We stayed with them for a while as they were breaching, leaping out of the water and swimming all around the boat. Then we saw a Minke Whale in the distance as we got closer the Minke surfaced two or three times then didn´t resurface again for a while. So, we explored Faxaflói a bit more until we came to an area where there were loads of White-beaked Dolphins and Minke Whales. We encountered a Minke Whale with a very unique dorsal fin, pictured below. We stayed on this area for a while as the passengers were really enjoying the whales but time ran out and we had to start heading back to the harbour. Perfect day in the bay ;)

Tour at 9:00

We set sail on the glorious of days; sunny, very little wind and sea was very calm. We saw loads of Puffins on the way out into Faxaflói, probably getting ready to nest on the puffin islands we have close to Reykjavik. We first came across a small pod of elusive Harbour Porpoises but they soon disappeared so we continued our tour offshore. We came to an area with a couple of Minke Whales, one or two surfacing very close to the vessel. A little while later our crew spotted some White-Beaked Dolphins in the distance but they soon disappeared as we approached. In that direction we saw some more Minke Whales which were really nice to view. On the way home we saw some more Harbour Porpoises which were easily to watch, surfacing many times. We saw many birds, Gannets, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Guillemots and one Arctic Skua. Very nice day out in Faxaflói Bay.
