CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Sailing out this morning, the blue sky was in tune with the cold air as we headed out first out of the bay. After searching for a while, we encountered a group of 3 humpback whales, many of which we knew from the previous days. With them all around us for a while, everyone got to enjoy the fulfilling sightings, seeing them breath and fluke dive plentely. As we decided to start heading further out of the bay, one of them breached straight in front of us, changing our minds ! Later on, we re-encountered one of the same whales, this time surrounded with 2 pods of white beaked dolphins, probably 7 individuals, opportunistically feeding next to our friend. This end of the tour completed our beautiful morning, as we headed home happily.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 11:00

Report from Hafsula: This morning in the harbour we had gorgeous glassy seas and sunshine. We sailed out into our bay and even though it was still very calm seas we were faced with some cool wind. Quite quickly we already encountered our first cetacean! A sleepy humpback whale with quite a bit of scarring. This humpback was resting and seemed not to be disturbed by our presence. We watched on and stayed quiet as to not disturb and then decided to head on for the same reason. Already after leaving we spotted our 2nd blow - making this humpback number two! This one was much friendlier and probably feeding as it came up reguarly always showing the fluke when it went back down. Then we carried on and found a third humpback!! This one was Mr. Bubbles/Rasta which we have seen since last year. A very friendly humpback that came extremely close to us and showed us its fluke with each deep dive - what a treat. We then sadly ran out of time and on the way back got another close look at our sleepy friend from the beginning of the tour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The sea was still very calm and the sun came peeking through the clouds and we had yet another incredible tour this afternoon. We saw a total of 5 humpback whales and we got to spend a lot of time with all these individuals, There were three humpbacks hanging in the same spot so we were all surrounded by these amazing animals. The last one we saw also decided to give us an acrobatic goodbye as well, as it treated us with some pec slaps and breached no less than three times! This was the perfect ender of our tour so we happily headed back home.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 15:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We had wonderful sunshine over the bay and excellent visibility - perfect for spotting the countless whales in Faxaflói today. Our attention first went out to a big splash that led us to a humpback whale we have named Rasta. Rasta was in a curious mood, coming incredibly close to the boat for a good time. Then we went to explore a humpback whale that was swimming further out, and many other blows appeared at the horizon. Then we turned around, just in time to see the full body of Rasta coming out of the water at a distance! The breach was incredible, and we couldn´t believe our luck. We stayed with Rasta for a little while longer, and for the final showstopper he came up right next to us again to say goodbye.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00

Report from Eldey: Sailing out to much further lengths this late afternoon, we first encountered our couple of the day, Mr. Bubbles and Hook. These 2 humpback whales, out of the 6 seen on the tour, were slowly travelling West and gave us several fluke dives in synchronicity to give out a great first taste of whale watching for everyone on the boat. We decided to leave them be and try our luck further North, we struggled to get close to other individuals, but when we did, we struck our luck: 4 humpback whales roamed around us, feeding, with again 2 of them coupling in movement. As we started turning to leave, one of them tail slapped, disappeared before breaching meters away from us, finishing our tour in a grand finale.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 19:00

Report from Hafsulan: what an incredible tour! It took us some time to get to the whale watching grounds, a bit over an hour actually. However, when we got there, what a reward! We first found Rasta, one of our favourite humpback whales. It's one of our favourites because of its cool appearance and because it's quite friendly. There was a group of white beaked dolphins in the area as well, breaching and being very playful, around 7 of them. After some time with this great whale and the dolphins we moved a bit closer to land, to Whalefjord, and bingo! We found so many whales! Around 5 more humpbacks, swimming together and acting in synchro in the same area. So, total of around 6 individuals. With the sunset it was beautiful, and as we were admiring these graceful humpbacks, we caught sight of a fin whale within them! It was incredible, as this animal is the second largest of the cetacean family. And we hadn't seen fin whales since April. Everybody was ecstatic, counting out the whales out loud, the children were shouting with delight. It was a glorious tour.
