Tour at 20:30

The see was flat and the weather very good. We spotted a group of White Beaked Dolphins, probably 10 of them together swimming around the boat. Then we went further out and spotted few Minke Whales which were travelling from one place to another. The light on this tour was stunning. We saw a perfect rainbow and later on, they became three. Couples on the boat were taking pictures of them with the rainbow and the dramatic sky in the background, truly romantic. This midnight sun tour was out of doubt, the top 3 this summer.

Tour at 17:00

The weather was the best it could get, mirror calm sea, not raining and beautiful contrast of the landscape. We started of at Akurey for this tour and there were Puffins everywhere. We then headed out to the same area were the whales were on the last couple of tours. On the way we saw Harbour Porpoises and loads of birds, Storm Petrels, Arctic Skuas, Arctic Terns, Gulls, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gannets, Puffins, Guillemots and many others. Once we got to the area where the whales were last it was nice to see that they were still there. They were surfacing in all directions and distances, must of been at least 5-8 Minkes in the area and a few scattered small pods of Harbour Porpoises so the passengers could choose what they wanted to watch. Then in the distance we spotted some White-beaked Dolphins which were really interactive for a while then lost interest. Awesome tour.

Tour at 14:00

The sea was completely calm and therefore it was easier to spot whales. First we spotted a Minke Whale which didn´t stay for a long time so we went further out and again, spotted another Minke Whale which had the same behavior as the last one. On the way back home we spotted the third Minke Whale of the tour, this time a really nice character which came close to the boat and showed its pointed head, good end on this beautiful tour.

Tour at 13:00

The weather was quite nice when we headed out to Faxaflói bay this afternoon. Calm sea and hardly any wind. It took us some time to find the whales because they were quite far out this time. We finally found a good area with lots of feeding birds and many Minke Whales. In the beginning it was difficult to get close to the whales but suddenly 3. Minke Whales surfaced very close to the boat. It was amazing. Our passengers didn’t know were to look, there were too many whales up in the same time. We stayed in this area for some time, even turned of the engine. It was also spectacular to watch the elegant Gannets diving down to the sea to get the small sand eel. As you can see in the following pictures, the Gannet can fold their wings when they dive down to the water like an arrow and they look just like a colorful pole just before hitting the surface. Just before we started to sail back to the port, suddenly one of the Minke Whales lunged out of the water and we could even see the white belly. Really fantastic tour.;)

Tour at 10:00

The weather was calm and beautiful, very good visibility. We sailed out on Faxaflói bay and spotted Minke Whale but it just came up once so we sailed a bit further out were we spotted one Harbour Porpoise. We managed to get quite close to it so it was very enjoyable to watch. After a while we spotted another Minke Whale. It came close to the boat 2 times so we all got a good view but then it disappeared. On the way back to the harbour, a passenger spotted another Minke Whale which came up 2 times. So we had few whales but shy ones. Still a great tour, full of fresh air !

Tour at 9:00

The sea was almost flat calm and the visibility was great. We started the tour by visiting Lundey (Puffin Island) and saw loads of Puffins and a couple of Black Guillemots, nice to see them all home. We then headed out into Faxaflói Bay crossing our fingers all the way hoping that the Bay was more productive than yesterday. We sailed for quite a while before the captain spotted a large flock of feeding birds and under it.....yes.... it was a Minke Whale but still 1 mile away. As we got closer we could see that there were quite a few Minke Whales in the area and some White-beaked Dolphins also, as well as many birds, Gannets, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns, Gulls, Arctic Skuas, Puffins, Guillemots and Razorbills. The Minkes were great, surface feeding, surfacing less than 100 meters and the Dolphins were breaching and leaping out of the water. Really great to watch. Fantastic tour.
