CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: We set off this morning under a chilly but sunny sky, and after about 30 minutes, we spotted our first humpback whale blowing in the distance. There were a few boats around, so after a few minutes and a fluke dive we decided to keep moving. Then we hit the jackpot! We found three minke whales swimming nearby. They resurfaced super close to the bow of our boat! As we kept going, we noticed some splashes ahead. It turned out to be a pod of 7-8 white-beaked dolphins zooming around the boats. They were so fast and playful! Before heading back, we made one last stop where we’d seen the humpback earlier. To our surprise, there were two humpbacks! One even did a stunning peduncle throw, showing off its huge tail fluke. What a day!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 1300
Report from Eldey-We set out for a delightful morning of sailing, eager to embrace the sunny yet crisp weather. The excitement among everyone was palpable as we anticipated the wonders we might encounter. Just four minutes into our journey, right off the coast of Akurey Island, we spotted a minke whale! It displayed some curious behavior, swimming close to the cliffs, and everyone was captivated by the sight.
After enjoying this incredible moment for about 10 to 15 minutes, we continued our sail, marveling at the stunning beauty of our surroundings. Along the way, we encountered more minke whales, but they seemed to be on the move. Then, we caught a glimpse of a humpback whale that briefly surfaced before diving deep, showcasing its magnificent fluke.
As we sailed, the group also indulged in some birdwatching, identifying various species as we enjoyed the scenery. Despite the challenge of seeing whales up close, our patience paid off when we spotted a beautiful humpback whale near Reykjavik. It appeared to be feeding, opening its massive jaw right in front of us, and playfully swimming beneath our boat.
Everyone was thrilled by the experience! After an unforgettable 15 minutes with the humpback, it was time to head back. We returned home with smiles, each of us enriched by a wonderful weekend adventure.
