CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: On this very Icelandic day, with wind and rain, we went out searching for wildlife. As the name says they are wild and have a life so we really had to search them. It took us about 20 minutes to see the first marine mammal, and it was one of at least 3. Harbour seals, the cute puppy-faced animals that are always curious to see a bunch of people looking from above! We continued on, since these sleeck friends don't tend to stay around for long and dive right away. After about half an hour, we saw a blow! It was a bit erratic but we soon saw the shape of a humpback whale! This animal's blow blasted us as it came super close to us. We could even see its body shape through the water because it was swimming close to the water line, making fluke prints on the surface, which made it easy to follow and stay with. After a few close-ups, it decided to fluke dive in great fashion! After that the wind really picked up as well as the swell. So we slowly made our way back to the safety of the harbour.
