Tour at 20:30

Report from Hafsúlan: The wind was still very strong when we headed out this evening. We knew that we had to go very far so we went straight out with the wind in our face the whole time. It was very difficult in the beginning but once we got out there we did not regret anything. Beautiful minke whales around us. We saw 3-4 animals in the area but managed to follow one of them for some time. The midnight sun was beautiful as always but there could have been more puffins in Lundey the Puffin Island. Windy but beautiful evening!

Report from Hafsúlan: As we went out on our evening tour the nature changed very much. While there was not so much life in our bay on our midday tour and we saw only very few birds this time the bay was simply crowded. We saw a huge number of northern gannets, we also saw many gulls, arctic terns and puffins that were actively feeding. There were thousands of birds in one area and it took not long until we spotted the first minke whale there. We went closer to him and we saw two more individuals in the same area. After a while we went further on, found another flok of birds and also there we could enjoy several minke whales. All in all we saw 7 to 10 minke whales on this tour.

Report from Elding: We heard from our sister vessel Hafsúlan that they were not being very lucky so we decided to head quite far out. It was like a small roller coaster ride on the way out but once we were out there we managed to spot 3 minke whales! One of them was little curious and came very close to us. We had few birds in the same area where the whales were, gannets, puffins, guillemots, kittiwakes and razorbills. It took us a very long time but our patient paid off in the end!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was very windy on our way out of the harbour and the boat was going up and down with the waves. We were searching very long for the whales but unfortunately we did not find one. We also saw only very few birds around the boat and it seemed there was simply no food for the whales at this time in the bay. We invited our passengers to a second trip and went back to the harbour.

Tour at 10:00

Report from Skrúður: As Hafsúlan was being moved from Grindavík and Elding went out at 9:00 o'clock tour we sailed out in our boat Skrúður this morning. The weather was little windy when we headed out but the weather forecast said that it would calm down very soon. Things turn out to be worse than we thought out on the bay and after about an hour we saw that we had no other chance than turn back to the harbor. We did not want to risk anything so back to the harbor it was for us and we hope that we can surely show our guest the nature in a much better weather next time!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Elding: We started our day with a visit of the puffin island Eldey and then we went further in the bay. It was very windy on the way out and the boat was going up and down with the waves. We had to search very long on this tour but finally we found a group of white-beaked dolphins. Although they changed the direction very often we were able to follow them a while. We saw approximately 7 individuals on this tour.
