Tour at 20:30

One of my favourite tours of the day with the beautiful midnight sun. Again we started at Akurey but very few at home, hopefully snuggled up in their borrows. We went to a different area on this tour as the last couple of tours were difficult but the result was pretty much the same. After a very long time we did see a very large splash in the distance which must of been from a whale so off we went and suddenly a Minke showed up just in front. We were able to see this whale surface a couple of times (50-60 meters from our boat) before it went on stealth mode and vanished which was nice. Must have seen at least 5-6 Minkea but we only got to see two of these close up. Quite a difficult afternoon and evening.

Tour at 17:00

The weather seemed to of calmed down a little but there was still allot of white caps. We started the tour at Akurey to see the puffins but most seemed to be in their borrows or out at sea fishing but there was a few around which was nice. The Minke Whales of the tour were very elusive. We did see at least 4-5 but only surfacing once and then not seen again for a very long time or not at all. Very difficult tour. We did see a Storm Petrel though, YAY!!

Tour at 14:00

We went straight out and didn't have to wait long until we spotted the first Minke Whale of the trip. This minke whale was rather shy and swam away quickly. During the tour we found 3-5 minke whales but most of them didn't come close to the boat. We also spotted a group of Harbour Porpoises which was very nice. We ended the tour by going to the Puffin Island where we saw couple of puffins.

Tour at 10:00

We started the tour by going to the Puffin Island where we saw many puffins. Then we sailed out in a bit windy weather and spotted a Minke Whale. It was difficult to follow and went away soon. We spotted another one which surfaced around the boat 30 meters from us at the shortest. All of a sudden a group of Harbour Porpoises just showed up in front of the boat. They swam around us for a while and we were able to see them swimming underwater which was very nice to watch. This group was surely the big star of the tour! We spotted another minke whale which came to us few times before swimming away. Many gannets were diving into the ocean making white splashes on the surface which was very spectacular.
