Tour at 13:00

A day like no other. 5 Humpback Whales and 50+ White-beaked Dolphins. We started our tour from Grindavík today and we were so glad we did. It took us maybe an hour to find our first cetacean but then it was none stop from there and from then on it was just incredible. One of the best tours we have ever had. We had 3 Humpback Whales in roughly the same area very close to the bird cliffs of Krísuvíkurbjarg. Two of them we got quite close to and got to see their beautiful fluke as they dove vertically down. Seabirds everywhere which are mentioned lower down. Then we started to head back to the harbour and saw another blow this time it was 2 Humpback Whales travelling together and they were just breath taking as one come and spy hopped inches from the boat, real whale-boat interaction. They were moving around us then for a while before they went for a deep dive and we really had to start heading back to the harbour. BUT the tour wasn't ending there as we had a pod of 20-30 White-beaked Dolphins from adults to juveniles leaping and bow riding around the boat, ok so we really really really had to start heading back and THEN suddenly we saw at least another 20-30 more white-beaked dolphins leaping towards us from the other direction. No words could explain today's tour especially when you combine it with mirror calm seas, white-capped mountains, stunning scenery and hundreds of seabirds it was definitely a day to remember.

Seabirds seen today include; Cormorants, Gannets, Guillemots, Razorbills, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Eider Ducks, Black-backed Gulls, Glaucous Gulls and I'm sure a few more species of gull too.
