Tour at 20:30

We headed straight out to Akurey to visit the puffins. We saw some puffins around the island sitting on the surface. Then we headed out to search for the whales. We spotted many many blows from the whales and even a big blow, bigger than a minke whale blow, but we did not find the animal. After some time searching we finally saw a very nice minke whale surfacing 5 times just in front of the boat! But our time was running out so we needed to head back to the harbour. One nice minke whale!

The sun was shining and the weather was beautiful this afternoon where we headed out to Faxaflói to find the whales. It did not take us a long time to spot the first minke whale. And then another one, and one more, and then two more; ..they were so many we couldn't count them! All around the boat, very close to us and we could even see them under the surface next to the boat! This was incredible! We even saw a minke whale with a small calf next to his mother coming up to the surface! Then it was time to see the puffins at the puffin island Akurey. Not so many puffins at home today, but we founded few hundred of them on the surface 300 meters away from the island which was vey nice! So we headed back to the harbour with a smile on our faces after a brilliant tour!

still sunny in Faxaflói bay we headed out again. We went straight out to find the whales. After a while we spotted two minke whales together in the same area. But we also saw some blows and flocks of feeding birds a bit further out. We went towards the birds and hoped to find maybe a humpback whale but we couldn't see any whale there where the birds were. We went back and find finally two minke whales again and they surfaced close to the boat. On our trip back we went to Akurey and spotted also some puffins. Nice trip!

Tour at 09:00

We headed out this morning in a nice sunny weather. First we went to Akurey, the puffin island and spotted a lot of puffins and some shags. After we headed out and it took us just 5 to 10 minutes to spot our first minke whale. He was really close to the harbour and came pretty close to the boat. We could follow this whale for 40 minutes before we said Good By to this one and headed further out to find other Minke Whales or another species. We found one more Minke Whale but saw him just a few times surfacing before we went back to the harbour. Really nice start! Birds seen on tours: Fulmars, kittiwakes, puffins, guillemots, eider ducks, artic terns, artic scuas, and geese.
