Tour at 17.00

We sailed straight out into Faxaflói bay. After we sailed for a while we spotted some really nice Harbour Porpoises. They were really close to the boat and we still saw them under the water surface. It was so nice to watch them. We followed them for a while and sailed on to find something else. There were a lot of Fulmars out in the bay, they were gliding in the wind. We also saw some Arctic terns and Puffins. We weather good a lot better and when we sailed home we had the sun warming us from behind. Unfortunately we couldn’t spot something else so we gave our passengers a complimentary ticket and we looking forward to see them again on one of our tours. But before we went into the harbour we visited we Puffin island Akurey. There were many Puffins flying around the Island and some were sitting at the water near the island. Really enjoyed the Harbour Porpoises loved them and the nice evening sun!

Tour at 13:00

We started this tour with a stop in Akurey to see the Puffins. Many of them were on the Island and flying around it, we also spotted some Kittiwakes on the Island, then some Fulmars, Lesser Black-backed Gulls and Arctic Terns were flying around the Island. During the tour we also spotted a Gannet flying around us. After searching for a while for the Whales we spotted some White-beaked Dolphins. They were being very difficult, we saw them very well but we lost them several times and then found them again further away. Then all of a sudden we spotted faraway 6 White-beaked Dolphins breaching out of the water. We turned the boat and headed towards the dolphins but they had stopped before we got to them. They were really nice to watch when we got closer to them, coming often out of the water, swimming under the boat and we could easily track them while they were under water watching the shadows. Then one of them started breaching again and it was so close to the boat, only about 10 meters away from the boat this one Dolphin breached out of the water about 8 times in a row, it was amazing. So even though we didn't manage to find the bigger whales on this tour these Dolphins gave us quite a show.

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was not so nice today, sea was a bit rough, it was raining and the visibility wasn´t that great. We headed straight out into Faxaflói bay to look for some Whales. After sailing for a while we spotted some White beaked Dolphins. There were quite many surfacing in front of our boat. We stayed with them for a while and headed then on to look for some other Whales. We spotted a Minke Whale but it only surfaced twice and went then for a deeper dive and we couldn’t spot it again. So we sailed on and we saw lots of birds like Fulmars, Gannets, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns and a Arctic Skua chasing some other birds. After a while we spotted another Minke Whale. It surfaced quite close to the boat and we could have a closer look at it but it went then for a deeper dive. We had to go back and while we were sailing to the coast the spotted some Harbour Porpoises really close to the boat. They were really playful and it was nice to watch them. On our way back the stopped at the Puffin Island Akurey. We already saw a lot of Puffins out at the bay but the island was packed with Puffins. Some were sitting on the island, a lot were flying around and lots were sitting on the water surface near the Island. So lots and lots of Puffins really nice to observe.

Report from Elding: We headed out in foggy weather and it shortly started to rain. A little rain is nothing that a warm overall cannot fix so many of our passengers started the tour by putting on an overall and some raincoats. We started by heading straight to the whale watching area in Faxaflói and soon one of the passengers spotted some splashes on the surface close to us. Those were the white beaked dolphins and they were really nice to watch, came close to the boat and we could even see them under the surface. They were however fast swimming and we lost them after watching them for a few minutes. Shortly afterwards we spotted the first Minke whale and it was great to watch, came close to the boat and we could even hear the blow! After sailing away from that Minke whale we spotted another one for a few minutes but it disappeared rather quickly. By that time our time was out but when we were sailing back we found another Minke whale and this one was great to watch! It let us come so close that we could hear the blow and at one time it came up with its head first to take a look at us. On the way back we stopped in Akurey, the puffin island, and there were very many puffins there today, both on the island and on the ocean. A successful tour!
