Tour at 20:30

We sailed out in a nice weather but bit windy. Stopped by Akurey to visit the puffins, and there were a lot of puffins to look at. Than we sailed straight out to Faxaflói bay, and when we reached the area were we had been seeing the whales this morning one minke whale popped up in front of us. It was surfacing really slowly and sometimes it was hard to see it because it was surfacing so low, but we were able to take a good look at it though when it started to surface closer to us. Than it disappeared so we headed on to find some other whales, but we had to search for a very long time until in the end when we were able to smell the minke whale, very nasty fishy breath. And after we smelled it 3 times we were able to find it. It was probably the same one as in the beginning, it surfaced few times around us. So a very nice ending on the tour.

It was lightly raining when we headed out this evening. First we went to Akurey and spotted a lot of puffins before we headed to the area where we spotted the whales this afternoon. It took us again some time to spot the whales but then we saw quite a lot of Minke Whales, sometimes two in the same area. Some of them surfaced faraway but two or three times we got them really close to the boat only 10 to15 meters away. All together a good tour.

We headed straight out to the whale watching area where we spotted the Minke Whales this morning. It took us a while to find the first Minke Whale and when we found him he just came up once. The second Minke surfaced three times and at the end we spotted two Minke Whales in the same area surfacing quite often. But we also had good sightings of the Harbour Porpoises. They surfaced over a long time and came up just five meters away from the boat. On our way back to Reykjavík we went to Akurey and enjoyed the puffins once more. Nice Tour!

Tour at 09:00

We headed out this morning in a nice and calm sea. First we went to the puffin island Akurey and spotted a lot of puffins like the days before. When we reached the whale watching area we found two Minke Whales right in the beginning but always surfacing quite far away. We headed further out and then we found a big flock of feeding birds and there we spotted even more Minke Whales. We saw 6 to 7 of them feeding in the same place. This was so amazing to see and happens not every day. On our way home we also spotted once some Harbour Porpoises. Great unique tour!
