Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 1300

Report from Eldey: It was warm today, a whole 2 degrees! We set off on really calm seas. Not long after leaving the harbour we saw our first of 6-7 seals. Then very quickly after seeing that first seal we saw a blow and then another! We had one humpback whale to our front and one behind us. We decided to focus on the one in front to begin with. It was Calamity near the northern point of Engey. We then followed this whale almost the whole way to the sun voyager! It was coming up regularly and occasionally showing the fluke. It seemed to be feeding as it would also sometimes lunge feed. Often it would go straight for dives too, perhaps for more food. After this we decided to head to the other whale, Ekki, but as we got closer we realised there was 2 here which means during this trip we actually saw 3 humpbacks! We now spent time with Ekki who appeared to be resting at the surface. One time they came really really close giving everyone a great look at their whole body. It would only be fair to make sure which have a look at each humpback so we now went to the third one which was also resting. This new whale to the area had very pretty skin pigmentation, it was very spotty. It was logging at the surface for about 3-4 minutes at a time before diving. We then headed back after an incredible tour.
