Tour at 13:00

The wind had picked up over the last couple of hours and even though it was smooth sailing on the way out it was very blustery on the way back. This tour wasn’t as good as the first as we were unlucky with the larger Faxaflói cetaceans such as the Minke whales. We did see a Minke blow but only twice and then it wasn't seen again. We did see quite a few Harbour Porpoises surfing the swells which was really nice. Also we saw some Guillemots, Kittiwakes, Fulmars and Gannets. We gave complimentary tickets to our passengers in hope that they could join us again on a better tour.  Lets see what tomorrow will bring.

Tour at 9:00

The sun was out the skies were clear but is was still quite cold especially offshore. We came across a large flock of feeding seabirds Fulmars and Kittiwakes mostly very early on in the tour, too early to see any Minke Whales with them but, we did see a small pod of Harbour Porpoises. About 20 or 30 minutes after that a Minke Whale surfaced only 60 – 80 meters from the vessel. We stayed with this Minke for a while before heading further offshore. Then the captain informed me of a few Gannets dive bombing in the distance, a good indication of a lot of food. As we approached we found that there were two Minke Whales one on either side of the boat giving the passengers a very good look at their long streamlined bodies. On the way back to the harbour we came across another small pod of Harbour Porpoises but only a very quick glance. Very nice tour.
