Tour at 20:30

Not a very successful tour with regards to the cetaceans but it was a breath taking sunset and beautiful to see Reykjavik city lit up. But complimentary tickets to all the passengers.

Tour at 17:00

This tour did not let us down either, we saw Harbour Poproises, White-beaked Dolphins and Minke Whales. Porpoises were fantastic as they came a couple of meters from our boat and by watching them we forgot that we were meant to be keeping a look out for the Minke Whale that had gone for a deep dive. The Dolphins were a little bit elusive but that might have been because of a calf that was with them as we noticed a smaller individual surfacing with the group. Great cetacean watching tour.

Tour at 14:00

The Puffin island Lundey was swarming with little black and white Puffins, flapping their wings and paddling the water surface. By this time, the sun had gotten really hot, many passengers shed their fleece jackets and sat in T-Shirts. Heading out into the bay, it wasn't until long that we met white-beaked dolphins, jumping playfully around the boat. AMAZING SIGHT, it looked like so much fun, we almost wanted to jump into the water with them! At the same time, three Minke whales appeared, at first almost unnoticed because everyone was distracted. But soon, there were more, in the end, we counted some 15 animals. It was a dream of a tour!

Tour at 13:00

Once again we started the tour at Lundey and once again there were thousands of Puffins which began the tour perfectly. Then once we got to the main whale watching area we found that the Minke Whales were very scattered but it was nice to have whales that we could watch on our own instead of having other boats around then too. One Minke Whale surfaced just 20-30 meters from us which was GREAT!. We found a couple of small pods of Harbour Porpoises too, the latter pod came within 10-15 meters and we could watch for a while. If that wasn't enough we got word of a pod of White-beaked Dolphins which were surfing the wakes of our boat, jumping out the water and swimming around and beneath our vessel. Fantastic Tour!!

Tour at 10:00

A FABULOUS TOUR in sunny and calm conditions. By the time we reached Puffin island Akurey, everybody had already got a light tan and a smile on their faces. The Puffins were mostly in the bay hunting but the ones "home" gave us a warm reception. Afterwards, we headed out into the bay and soon found a huge flock of diving Gannets. Like arrows, they dove into the water from high altitudes, creating big splashes. In the middle of this spectacle of these majestic birds, about 12-15 Minke whales were feeding, some of them even at the surface, rolling and showing their white belly and white-striped flippers! The only disturbance was a private small motor boat, aggressively chasing the whales and scaring quite a few away. We were happy when the boat left us and the whales in peace. All was quiet then but for the whales' frequent blows. All we had to do was turn of the engine, have a coffee and enjoy the sunlight and the show.

Tour at 09:00

A beautiful day today, perfect whale watching weather. Mirror calm seas, great visibility and blue skies. We started the tour at Lundey where we saw thousands of Puffins flying around, sitting on the waters surface and on the island. Then we headed out into Faxaflói Bay and found the whale hot spot. At least 3-4 Minke Whales but there was one in particular that amazed us with every surface. It surfaced about 1 meter from our boat once and stayed within 20 meters of us most the time. Saw the whale lunge feeding and rolling for fish just beneath the waters surface. Great to see the whales white and pink belly and ventral pleats. Excellent Tour!!

Birds seen on todays tours include: Puffins, Fulmars, Gannets, Arctic Terns, Black backed gulls, Manx Shearwaters, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Razorbills, Skuas, Cormorants, Eider Ducks, Graylag Geese and Black Guillemots.
