Tour at 13:00

Report from Elding: Still no rain even if it was very cloudy! We had two very nice minke whales! They made it rather easy for us to follow them while showing the "usual" breathing behaviour: they came several times up to breath in a row with a short interval and then they went deep diving for about three minutes. Both stayed always in the same area and were feeding. But suddenly they disappeared but we were satisfied with their good "whale-watching-behaviour" they showed in the beginning!

Report from Hafsúlan: We didn't get as good "whale watching behavior" as the people on Elding, unfortunately. The minke whales we found were surfacing once or twice before deep diving and disappearing, so they were a bit harder to observe. But we sailed further out and searched some more and we were rewarded at the end. A minke whale surfaced a couple of times and we got a much better view this time :-) This tour was a bit unusual because the speaker system was "uncooperative" and the guide had to shout instead of speak in the microphone... but it went well and the passengers were able to look in the right direction to see the whales ;-)

Tour at 9:00

Report from Elding: We were really lucky with the weather: it just stopped raining when we left the harbour and didn't rain through the whole tour :-) There were several minke whales out there in Faxaflói bay. First we spotted a few minke whales and they surfaced around the boat, close and further away. After some while we searched further out in the bay for more whales but couldn't find any so we went back where we spotted the ones earlier. And again we got good opportunities to watch a few of them before we had to turn back to the harbour.

Report from Hafsúlan: We were very pleased with the weather as the people on Elding. It rained a lot at the very beginning when we were in the harbour and at the puffin island, but when we came further out on the bay and started to search for the whales the rain stopped :-) We got some nice sightings as well. A couple of minke whales surfaced close to the boat and we were able to observe them several times when they came up to the surface in between shallow dives. The sea was rather calm and we saw several individuals, some of them close but others further away.
