Tour at 20:30
We headed straight out to Faxaflói in this sunny evening. In a short time we found a group of breaching white beaked dolphins!!! Once we got closer they stopped breaching but they were swimming very close to us and under the boat! SO NICE! Then when we were observing the dolphins we saw one minke whale! So we could watch some white beaked dolphins and a minke whale at same time! Later on we found two other minke whales that were swimming very close to the boat! Then we ended the tour by visiting the Puffin Island, what a great end of a great tour! So all in all a very nice tour in the beautiful midnight sun!

This tour was very difficult. The Puffins at Akurey were really great as there were many of them but the Minke Whales were very elusive. We had at least 3-4 Minkes on this tour but not surfacing often and usually quite far from the boat. Faxaflói seemed quite empty in these three hours as there were no seabirds around either. However, the ocean was calm and the sun was out a great day to be out at sea.

The weather was still being very nice this lovely afternoon. We saw lot of puffins at Akurey so that was a great start of our tour. Then very soon we spotted some harbour porpoises! They were being very playful and jumping in front of us! Then suddenly a passenger spotted a minke whale! We sailed towards the whale and in that area we had lot of diving gannets all around us! It was just amazing to watch it! Well, we knew there was lot of fish so we waited for a while...and it sure paid off! There were so many minke whales all around us! Coming up to the boat, surface feeding and surfacing all around us! It was just amazing, and we don't know how many we saw, maybe 10, maybe 15!!! What amazing tour!

Great tour. We started by visiting Akurey and saw many Puffins. Then it took us about 40 minutes before we saw our first Minke Whale. We saw many Minkes during this tour but at the beginning they were quite elusive. It was the last Minke of the tour that was the best surfaced just 10 meters from our vessel. The highlight of the tour was the White-beaked Dolphins (5-8 individuals) they were jumping and breaching out of the water with a couple of juveniles. You could even watch them as they swam just beneath the waters surface next too and under the boat. Fantastic!

We sailed out in a very beautiful weather and started our tour by visiting the puffins. We saw many puffins on Akurey this morning so it was a good start on our tour. Then very soon we spotted a minke whale in front of us. When we got closer we saw that there were 3 of them swimming in the same area feeding! Very nice to have 3 minke whales around us! We followed them for a while and they got very close to the boat!!! At the same time we had breaching harbour porpoises also just in front of us! Very nice! On the way back we spotted 3 more minke whales and we even saw more jumping porpoises! What a great tour!
Birds seen on tour: Puffins, fulmars, kittiwakes, artic scuas, great scuas, gannets, black back gulls, storm petrels, razorbills, guillemots, black guillemots
