Tour at 17:00

Really lovely day out in the bay today. But it was very difficult to find the whales this afternoon. After sailing for 40 minutes the guide spotted one Minke Whale witch surface only once before disappearing. So we headed further out. We spent a lot of time searching and finally we saw a blow from a Minke Whale, but this whale was also shy and only shoved its back one time. Very few of our patience passengers could see the whales, so we gave them all complimentary tickets.

Tour at 13:00

Really sunny tour and the wind had calmed down. We headed straight out in to Faxafloi for about 20-30 minutes (about 6 miles from the coast) and saw our first Minke Whale. It surfaced a couple of hundred meters away at 11 o´clock and we tried to get closer. Then another Minke surfaced at 5 o´clock about 100 meters. We stayed with the whale at 11 0´clock because there were other boats with the other. After a time we found that the Minke Whale had a juvenile (baby) with it so we had to leave them so we wouldn´t distress the mother. We headed further offshore and after a while we came across another which surfaced many times. After watching this whale for a while it went for a deep dive and wasn´t seen again. We headed back to shore but came across another on the way back but this one was a bit more elusive. We ended the tour by visiting Akurey (Puffin Island) and saw many. Great tour.  Birds seen were; Guillemots, Arctic Skuas, a Pomarine Skua, Fulmur, Gulls, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns, Eider Ducks, Puffins, Raven, a Gannet.

Tour at 9:00

It was a little bit cloudy but the wind had dropped down from the day before. We started the tour by visiting the Puffin island Akurey and sow a lot of Puffins. Then we headed out to Faxaflói bay searching for whales. After sailing for a short time we spotted a blow from a Minke Whale. This Minke Whale was in action, feeding close to the surface, coming up on the side many times. Showtime. We followed the whale for some time and all our passengers got a good look at the animal. We also spotted in the same area a small group of Harbour Porpoises which surfaced only three times before disappearing. Then we headed further out and soon we spotted another Minke Whale witch crossed our path. It surfaced a few times very close to our bout, about 40 meters. And in the same area we saw two more Minke Whales, but much further away, coming up fast swimming, so 4 Minke Whales and a small group of Harbour Porpoises on this tour.
