Tour at 17:00 Report from Elding:

Harbour porpoises were the first specie that we spotted on this tour. We only saw it coming up once so we sailed further out and spotted few minke whales.  Than we spotted a very curious group of white beaked dolphins and sometimes they were just one meter from the boat so we could easily see them underwater which was beautiful. Later on we spotted again around 6 minke whales and sometimes we could see them coming up three together. The weather was also perfect so we had a boat full of smiling passengers :D

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather on this evening tour was much better than in the morning and afternoon. The wind and sea had calmed down a lot and the conditions were much better. Our first sighting was a group of white beaked dolphins. They approached us and surfaced a couple of times close to the boat. They were changing direction a lot, but we were able to observe them for some time. Then they swam under the boat (the captain could see them on the sonar!) and then they completely disappeared! They probably had better things to do than being watched by us ;-) Then we continued searching for whales... For a long time we didn't find anything, but our patience was rewarded in the end where we found an area with many, many minke whales. They were surfacing all around the boat, sometimes many of them together at the same time, and we really enjoyed watching them. It was a good way to end the day!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Elding: The weather was similar as on the 9:00 tour, windy and rough seas... but still not too bad ;-) First we spotted a group of harbour porpoises. There were several animals (larger group than usual) and they came quite close, The harbour porpoises are shy animals however and not very approachable, so we weren't able to observe them for too long. It was the best porpoise sighting of the day :-) Then we searched for minke whales... It took some time, all we could find was minkes that were deep diving a lot and not easy to watch. Then in the end we were able to approach a minke whale that was shallow diving, allowing us to observe it several times.

Tour at 09:00

It was a very windy morning and we warned all our passengers who were thinking of going out on the bay with us. Many of them changed their tour and made a reservation for the 17:00 tour, but there were still many passengers who decided to come with us out on Faxaflói bay - out on an adventure at sea ;-) When we came out on the bay the weather was rough, but still not as rough as we had expected. The whales were even very "cooperative" and surfaced close to the boat several times. It was nice. We saw many minke whales and some harbour porpoises (not for a long time though). It was a rough tour but with great rewards! :-)
