Tour at 17:00

The sea was a little bit more choppy than earlier but the conditions were still really good out on the bay. We spotted some minke whales, they were shallow diving and surfacing frequently. Then we spotted a huge flock of feeding birds in the distance and we hurried over there. The flock was huge! But to our surprise we didn't see any whales in the area. We stayed there for a while, enjoying the birds, but since no whales showed up we left the area and headed further out. There we spotted a smaller flock of feeding birds and there we could see feeding minke whales. We also spotted the minke whale calf again and it was still curious and cute :-) It surfaced close to the boat and we could even spot the white armbands around its flippers under the surface. It was a very nice tour :-)

Report from Elding: The weather was still perfect and like this morning we soon got to the area with all the minke whales. All the time we were surrounded by four to five minke whales so it was just "difficult" to decide where to look. The best was actually when five minke whales surfaced together at the same time only fifty meters away from the boat! We spent a whole hour in the area and had always whales close to the boat. This was one of our best tours this season!!!

Report from Hafsúla: Really good tour! The sea was calm and the visibility was good and we were in a good area where we spotted a lot of animals. First we spotted two minke whales, then a group of white beaked dolphins. Then when we left them we saw a group of harbour porpoises. They are not as approachable as the dolphins and minkes, so we didn't stay with them for too long. Then we saw more minke whales and the sightings were really good :-) We saw a minke whale feeding with its pinkish belly up. The minkes were close to us and surfacing again and again. Then we spotted a minke whale mother with a calf! The calf was really cute and curious and came quite close to the boat. It was a really nice tour :-)

Tour at 9:00

The sea was very calm and there was no wind out there in Faxaflói bay. These were just perfect whale-watching conditions and we could spot the whales from far away. We spotted soon our first minke whale and a short time later we spent all our time surrounded by many feeding minke whales. One minke whale fed several times at the surface so we could see a lot of splashes and its white belly. At the end of the tour we spotted white-beaked dolphins. They were very slow swimming and spread out over a large area. This was indeed a very nice tour!
