Tour at 17:00

Again another great tour. Saw at least 4-5 Minke Whales, surfacing really close to the boat (10-20 meters). You could even see one of the Minkes travelling just beneath the surface of the water, it looked like it was rolling. Then it surfaced 2-3 times really slowly showing the snout then the black back and then the dorsal fin just 20 meters from us. Absolutely incredible. Just as we got to Akurey (Puffin Island to see the Puffins) we also saw a couple of Harbour Porpoises which ended the tour perfectly.

What a fantastic tour. Saw at least 4-5 Minke Whales and on a couple of occasions the Minkes surfaced just 10-20 meters from our boat. We had a small pod of Harbour Porpoises too at the beginning of the tour and these were great. They surfaced just 10-15 meters from us and we stayed with them for about 20 minutes as they were really interacting with the boat. Then they started surfing the swells which was amazing to see. Then we went to Akurey and there were lots of Puffins around. Great Tour!

Tour at 09:00

The weather was very nice when we headed out this morning, calm sea and cloudy skies. We spotted lots of puffins at Akurey, and further out in the bay one pod of harbour porpoises crossed our path. We could see them very well. The minke whales were a little bit difficult this morning, only surfacing a few times before taking a deep dive and when they surfaced again it was quite far away. But we spotted at least 3-5 minke whales and one of them surfaced about 60-70 meters from our boat.

Birds seen on today's tours include, Puffins, Guillemots (all three species), Razorbills, Gulls, Kittiwakes, Fulmars, Arctic Terns and Arctic Skuas. On the island also, Graylag Geese, Oystercatchers, Cormorants and Plovers.
