Tour at 20:30

Beautiful weather this evening. The sun heading behind Snæfelsjökull the glacier while rainbows over Reykajvík. The trip we started in Akurey where we watched the Puffins fly around the island and some of them sitting at the surface. Out on the bay we spotted 1-2 Minke Whales. It was difficult to say if there were one or two of them but we believe there were two. They were rather shy and the first one surfaced first 4 times for us to see it very well. After that they only surfaced 1-2 times with long dives in-between making it harder for us to follow. We therefor took our chances and headed further out but no luck there. When the time was up we headed back on the way a Minke Whale surfaced once for us. Beautiful view on this trip with 1-2 Minke Whales.

Tour on 17:00

This afternoon we headed straight out to see the whales but we didn't had luck with them. One Minke Whale showed up far away but when we got closer we lost him. Also the second time when we spotted a Minke Whale close to the boat, he just showed up once. We could not be sure that most of the passengers spotted a whale, so complementary tickets were given. What a pity.

Tour at 13:00

The wind had picket up a little when we headed out again this afternoon. The puffins were still at home at Akurey (lots of puffins). It took us some time to find the whales because they had moved to another area. Then we spotted a blow from a minke whale far away. And in that area we spotted 3-4 minke whales, some only surfacing far away but two of them were nice and came up both in the same time very close to the boat. On the way back to the harbour we spotted 3-4 minke whales so in this tour at least 6-8 minke whales were spotted. Lots of good sightings.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Elding: Once again nice sunny weather here in Faxaflói bay when we headed out this morning. We saw a lot of puffins above the island Akurey and headed then out to look for the whales. It was a really nice tour. We spotted something all the time for example some pods of Harbour Porpoises and then also 2 to 3 Minke Whales. Just great!

Report from Hafúlan: Thanks to the weather gods we still have wonderful weather. Our first stop was at Akurey, visiting the puffins and then we headed out to Faxaflói. The whales were very nice to us this morning. Hundreds of harbour porpoises surfacing everywhere around us, and at least 3-5 minke whales. The minke whales surfaced many times, slowly and very close to our boat so we could have a good look at them. So we sailed back with lots of happy and smiling passengers.
