Tour at 17:00
The weather this afternoon was perfect but the wind was getting stronger. We headed out to the same area where we had the Minke Whales earlier today and we spotted tree or four minke whales. Some of them came several times close to the boat but they were deep diving for a long time and very difficult to follow. Then we saw a small group of harbour porpoises for a short while but then they disappeared.We spent a long time searching for more whales but could not find any. But nature is sometimes like that.
Tour at 13:00
It was a wonderful tour! Twenty minke whales or up to thirty! They were all around the whole area! the best moment was actually when suddenly three minke whales surfaced at the same time only ten meters away from the boat! This was just perfect! On the way back to the harbour another minke whale crossed our way and we had to stop to watch it. At the same time a group of harbour porpoises appeared and stayed a short while close to the boat. This was a really nice tour!
Tour at 9:00
The weather was really good still, just like yesterday. The sea was calm and the whale searching conditions were really good. First we spotted a group of harbor porpoises and they were a bit more approachable than usual, they didn't swim away too soon and we got a good look at the cute animals :-) Then we headed further out on Faxaflói bay and spotted both minke whales and a group of white beaked dolphins. The dolphins approached us and surfaced right next to the boat! There were also many minke whales in the area, both close to us and a bit further away, and at one point we turned off the engines and microphone and simply enjoyed the silence and wild nature :-) It was a really nice morning out on the bay!
