Tour at 20:30

We started by seeing the puffins in Akurey. After that we sailed out to Faxaflói in a very nice weather. We spotted a Minke Whale which was avoiding us the whole time but still we managed to get close to it. All of a sudden another minke came just 7 meters from the boat and came up 3 times that close!!! We followed this minke but it tried to avoid us as well. Still we managed to follow it pretty close. To top the tour we had an amazing sunset. A really cosy and nice trip on our small yacht Elding II

Tour at 17:00

We spotted many gannets in the distance and went of course into that area since the birds and the whales are feeding on the same food. 100 gannets were feeding in this area and soon we spotted 4 to 5 Minke Whales that surfaced around us for quite a long time. Two of them came extremely close to the boat. On the way back we took a stop at the puffin island Lundey and saw couple of puffins.

Tour at 14:00

Report from Elding: This trip we decided to see how the Puffins in Akurey were doing and they were still there mainly sitting around the island and there was also a large flock of Eider Ducks there. The search for the whales was not difficult. We spotted several Minke Whales early on, they were all so calm but they spent a lot of time under water and they were spread over a large area making it harder for us to follow but when they surfaced they usually came up 2-3 times before going down again. We then decided to keep on going in hope to find something else and we sure did. We found a pod of White-Beaked Dolphins. We stayed with it until we had to go back and on our way back we spotted another Minke Whale and briefly a pod of Harbour Porpoises.

Tour at 13:00

There where some puffins around Lundey this afternoon. Out in the bay we found many minke whales, two very shy harbour porpoises and one group of white-beaked dolphins, also quite shy. So the minke whales were our favourite on this tour, surfacing many times and some came very close about 10 meters so all our passengers could see them and enjoy them a lot. The weather was also fantastic, the sea like a mirror and no wind. Very enjoyable tour.

Tour at 10:00

Report from Elding: Lundey was beautiful this time around. As we approached the island some of the Puffins that were sitting in the water around it took off while others stayed calm with the Black-Guillemots. Then few were on the island with the Kittiwakes that were singing the morning song. Out in Faxaflói bay we first spotted a pod of White-beaked Dolphins with two calves that always surfaced together right next to each other. Close by the then spotted a flock of feeding birds and right underneath them there were 2-3 Minke Whales and one of them was very small, definitely a juvenile and we stayed with them for a while until we had to start heading back.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafúlan: We headed first out to Lundey this morning and watched a lot of puffins around the island. The sea was really calm when we headed out to our normal whale watching area. Soon we spotted White Beaked Dolphins but they where quit shy and swam always away from the boat. We headed further out and found even more dolphins. The White Beaked Dolphins were leaping out of the water and came amazingly close to the boat to play in the swell. Really nice dolphins and we could follow for some time. Unfortunately we didn't were so lucky with the Minke Whales, we just spotted one animal surfacing twice but quite far away. But all together a really nice tour this morning because of the funny and curious dolphins.
