Tour at 17:00

We started today’s tour with a stop in the Puffin colony Lundey where we spotted some Puffins there were not so many on the island itself but there were some sitting at the surface around the Island and also flying around, we also spotted some Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Arctic Skuas, Arctic Terns and some Eider Ducks. We then headed out to Faxaflói, it had picked up even more wind by now and there were some white caps but conditions were not to bad. During the tour we spotted 3 different Minke Whales. One of them came very close to the boat several times and we were able to see the shadow when it was shallow diving, the other two were a bit more difficult only coming up to the surface 1-2 and then they went for a deeper dive again. Out there we also spotted a large flock of feeding Gannets.

Tour at 14:00

We started the tour with a visit to the Puffin Island Akurey and again there were not many puffins on the island. Then we sailed out to Faxaflói and found a Minke Whale after about 40 minutes of sailing. This was a rather big whale and we could see it surface three or four times before it disappeared. Then we saw another Minke Whale a little further and this one was a little easier, coming up to the surface a few times. We found around three more individuals in this tour and could have them quite close and have a good look at them. Some of the whales were a little difficult but all in all we had some excellent sightings.

Tour at 13:00

We started this trip with a stop in Akurey to see the Puffins. There were not many of them on the Island this time but some of them were flying there around the Island. We then headed out to Faxaflói. It had picked up some wind by the time we got out there but conditions were still very good. First we spotted one Minke Whale and we stayed with it for a while. After this first Minke Whale we found a pod of White-beaked Dolphins. They were very nice to observe, swimming close to the boat and under it. Later on we spotted two other Minke Whales surfacing several times. When heading back we then briefly spotted another Minke Whale, so during this tour we had very nice White-beaked Dolphins and 4 Minke Whales.

Tour at 10:00

We started the tour in Puffin Island Akurey and there were unfortunately not many puffins on the island. We then headed out to Faxaflói and after about 30 minutes we spotted a group of White Beaked Dolphins. We could follow them for a while and they were really slowly coming up to the surface, even visible under the water a couple of times. Then a little further in the distance we saw a Minke Whale and this whale was excellent. It allowed us to come really close and a couple of times we could even see it surface feeding, scaring all the feeding birds off the ocean surface and making big splashes! A very good tour!

Tour at 9:00

The weather was great when we headed out this morning. We first headed out to Lundey to see the Puffins. There were quite many of them there along with the Black-Guillemot, Kittiwake, Fulmar and the Lesser Black-backed Gull. After staying there for a little while we headed out. First after we got out to Faxaflói we came across a small pod of Harbour Porpoises they were rather shy so we didn't stay with them for very long. When we headed further we first spotted 3 Minke Whales and while we were looking at them we found a pod of White-beaked Dolphins they were a bit difficult to stay with but we were able to observe them very well. Towards the end we then found several flocks of feeding birds in one area and around them we found at least 4 different Minke Whales and we stayed with one of them for a while before we had to head back to the harbour.
