Tour at 20:30

Cancelled

Tour at 17:00

This afternoon we went first to Akurey to see the Puffins and then we headed out. We went straight to the same area as we had been in during the other tours. Again there were so many birds in that area, Fulmars, Arctic Terns, Kittiwakes, Puffins and Arctic Skuas.  A lot sooner than on the other tours we then spotted our first Minke Whales and very close to it we spotted another one but this time they were being very difficult only surfacing few times and then going for a long deep dive. Therefore we headed on and during the tour we spotted at least 6 different individuals. Most of them were difficult but few came really close to the boat. The weather today was pretty rough and we had many white caps but it was a very successful day with many Minke Whales, so many flocks of feeding birds and a lot of fresh air.

Again we headed straight out to Faxaflói. The weather was pretty much the same as during the tour before. We headed towards the same area and when we got there were so many birds again. And before we knew it we had spotted our first Minke Whale. During this tour it was a bit more difficult to approach the whales to start with but eventually we got really close to them, and we saw how they were swimming towards the flocks of feeding birds. After staying with the Minke Whales for a while we then headed to the Puffin Island Akurey, to see the Puffins. Among other birds we spotted during this tour were the Fulmars, Arctic Terns, Kittiwakes, Puffins, Eider Ducks, Arctic Skuas and a Gannet.

Tour at 09:00

We headed out this morning straight into Faxaflói bay. It was pretty stormy but it wasn't raining so we just had fun in the waves and the wind. We soon spotted a huge flock of birds feeding at the water surface. When we got closer we saw a Minke Whale surfacing. We stayed in the area and soon spotted another one. At first it was rather difficult to spot them because the sea was quite rough but then the Minke Whale surfaced a lot closer and during the tour we spotted at least 5-6 of them and some surfaced at least two to three times making it easier for us to follow them and see. And at one point we spotted one Minke Whale was rolling in at the surface right in front of the boat. We spotted many birds during the tour, Fulmars, Arctic Terns, Kittiwakes, Puffins, Eider Ducks, Arctic Skuas, Black-Guillemots and Gannets out. On our way back we stopped at the Puffin Island Lundey. There were many Puffins sitting on the Island and some were flying above the Island.
