Tour at 13:00
An afternoon with a big surprise. We started the tour by visiting Puffin Island where we again saw a lot of puffins. It seems that they will start breeding soon. We didn´t expect to see much on this tour because we hadn't found any whales on the morning tour. For quite a while it looked very silent out there in Faxaflói bay - even no birds around. Then suddenly we spotted a huge splash far far away! There was no question, we sailed all the way out to where we saw the splashes, and got to spend time with a fascinating young humpback. It enjoyed itself very much, was breaching all the time, rolled around, and really liked to swim on its back with its belly up. It was lobtailing, waving and splashing with its huge dorsal fins. It was really fun to watch! We came back late, but it was worth it and we learned a lesson: never give up!
