- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: It was a calm, sunny and windless day in Reykjavík, a good vibe day. We started our tour by going around Videy to check for animal life, more specifically whales! Just as we were going around the corner, a blow was spotted and half a second later another one right next to the first one, they were from 2 humpback whales! On the way there a curious harbour seal popped its head out of the water to check us out and rapidly hid under the waves. It wouldn't be the last time we'd see this seal and more as there were about 3 or 4 near the shore. Well, the whales now: they were in formation, side by side, feeding on some nice fish. Fortunately, they never left the area where they were found so we didn't really have to move the boat! After a good look at these gentle giants we realized that one of them had fresh wounds made from an entanglement. The crew was 99.9% sure it was the whale seen 2 days ago that was entangled in fishing gear, a huge threat to these lovely animals. Happily, it was free and feeding with its buddy. After a nice fluke dive from this whale we turned around and explored a little bit more of Kollafjordur just to be sure that we didn't miss anything. We also witness the maintenance of a harbour buoy by one of the big tug boats!
