Tour at 20:30

We began the trip by sailing out to look for the whales. We headed to the same area where the boats had been earlier that day and we were able to spot 4 Minke whales. The first two were quite difficult to follow and spent a long time under the surface, but when we sailed on we found another two which we could get a pretty close look at. We were even able to smell one of them. As the sun was setting on the way back we stopped by Puffin Island Akurey and had a look at the cute puffins before we headed back to the harbour. A nice trip with some beautiful weather!

Tour at 17:00

The weather was still very nice when we headed out to Faxaflói bay. It took us some time to find the whales on this tour. First we spotted a small group of Harbour porpoises, they were quite difficult to get close to, always diving so we went further out.  There we found some Minke whales. Some of them were nice and the last one by far, The star of the tour; Surfacing suddenly only 10 m. In front of us few times, so all of our passengers could have a good look at the animals. We ended the tour at the Puffin island Lunday.  Good day in the bay.;)

Tour at 14:00

The wind picked up slightly but the weather in general was pretty much the same as the previous tours. We started by visiting Akurey and once again didn´t see that many Puffins but at least we saw more than the previous tours but the Skuas were still hanging around. It took us again 40-50 minutes to get to the main area where the Minke Whales were. The first one we saw was quite elusive and only surfacing once or twice before going for a deep dive. So we left that one in peace because we got word for our sister vessel (Hafsúlan) that there were White-beaked Dolphins in the area so that where we headed. They as well were being elusive not allowing us to get closer than 100 meters before going for a deep dive and then showing up later very far in the distance. We said goodbye to the Dolphins and went looking for some more Minke Whales. Then we found a great one, surfacing many times and close to the boat too.  The time was running out for the tour so we headed home but then suddendly two Minke Whales surfaced at once about 80 meters from our boat and on a couple of surfaces less than 50 meters. Great ending to the tour.

Tour at 13:00

The weather had been really nice all day and it continued like that this afternoon, calm sea and even the sun came out from the clouds. We began the tour at the Puffin island Akurey, and then we sailed out to the bay searching for whales. It took us about 40 minutes to find the first cetaceans. It was a group of Harbour porpoises. This group was absolutely fantastic, surfacing many times and coming very close to the bout. We could even see them swimming beneath the surface only a few meters away from our boat. Further out we spotted a few Minke whales, about 4-5 animals. At one point we turned of the engine so we could enjoy the wild nature. Two of the Minkes, one big whale and one juvenal came very close to the boat many times, and one time surfacing only 10 m. away from the boat. At the end of the tour we spotted a group of White-beaked dolphins. We stayed with them for some time before heading back to the harbor. Very good tour. ;)

Tour at 10:00

Perfect whale watching conditions once again, flat calm sea, clear blue sky but unfortunetly the visability wasn´t at its best because you couldn´t see the snæfellsnes peninsula. We headed straight out into Faxaflói Bay but as we were heading out we caught sight of a couple of Harbour Porpoises that were feeding by Engey, an island very close to the shore. Really nice to see the Porpoises so close to land. After spending a few minutes with the Porpoises we headed out offshore to where the whale watching vessels were. We sailed for about 50 minutes before we saw our first Minke Whale. Suddenly we were surrounded by Minke Whales, surfacing in all directions as far as the eye could see.  A couple of them surfaced very close to the boat (less than 50 meters) and on the odd occasion there was a couple of Minke Whales surfacing at the same time. We stayed in this area for quite a while because of all the activity, not only from the whales but the birds as well, Gannets, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gulls, Arctic Terns, Arctic and Great Skuas, Manx Shearwaters, Puffins, Razorbills and Guillemots. On our way home we visited Puffin Island and saw some Puffins but i think most were out offshore and also there were many Skuas around the island stealing the Puffins food so that might also be a reason why there are not so many Puffins. we will see. Fantastic Tour!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan We didn´t have to sail far out until we spotted the first specie on the tour because just 10 minutes from the harbor, we found a nice group of Harbor Porpoises. Soon after, we spotted 2 Minke Whales but they didn´t come up to the surface very often. We sailed further out and spotted Minke Whale again. Short after the guide was yelling: whale one, two and three o´clock ! There were at least 6 Minke Whales all around the boat so it was hard to decide which direction should be concentrated on. We also saw a lot of diving gannets which is always exiting. This tour was very enjoyable in great whale watching weather.

Report from Elding In the beginning of the tour we spotted a small group of Harbour porpoises very close to shore, and a very nice one. So, a good beginning. The weather was fantastic, calm sea but cloudy. We headed further out to search for more whales. In one area we spotted many Minke whales. They surfaced all around the boat; some very close others further away. One of the Minke whales suddenly surfaced only 10 m. behind the boat, two times. There were also many diving Gannets and lot of other bird species. We ended the tour at the Puffin island Akurey. Nice tour;)
