Tour at 20.30

We headed out in a beautiful weather to Akurey. There were lot of puffins at home this nice evening. Then we started to search for the whales out on Faxaflói bay. We found our first minke whale in a short time. The whale was teasing us a little bit, coming up all around the boat, but it came up in front of the boat a couple of time so everybody could take a good look at it! Little later we saw another blow but did not find the whale. We sailed then for some time in the beautiful midnight sun at this longest day of the year (solstice). Very beautiful sailing with a one nice minke whale! Birds seen on tour: Puffins, fulmars, guillemots, scuas, artic terns

The wind had picked up a lot on this tour and it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride on the way out but smooth sailing on the way back as we were now sailing with the wind. It took us about 40-50 to see our first Minke Whale but what a Minke Whale it was. It was great surfaced many times and only 10-20 meters from our boat. We must have seen at least 3 Minkes on this tour and two of them came really close. We also had a great encounter with a small pod of Harbour Porpoises and saw many birds.

The weather was the same and lots of puffins at Akurey when we headed out again this afternoon. Out in the bay we spotted lots of feeding birds but the minke whales were a little bit difficult to get close to, diving for a long time and surfacing only once or twice. Then we found a nice one, and it came very close to our boat, 10-15 meters a few times. We also spotted one pod of harbour porpoises. So all together, lots of puffins, 5-7 minke whales, pot of harbour porpoises and beautiful weather. Very nice tour.

in perfect whale watching weather we sailed out from Reykjavík. At the puffin island we spotted lots of puffins and further out in the bay we found a good area with many minke whales, busy feeding. The last minke seen on this tour was the best. It came up only 5 meters in front of us few times. Absolutely amazing whale. So very nice tour.
